Hey guys!!!! Sarah here posting her first blog!! It only took me 9 days! Well were driving another super long stretch right now, from the badlands to Chicago. We had to break it up into two days, cause it's about 14 hours...make a trip to mo-town look like cake!!!!!!

Well, typical Sarah, I decided to go for a morning swim at the koa in the badlands. I was on my 5th lap, came up for air, was turning around for my 6th and saw a snake in the pool!!!!!! Lite rally less than an arms length away from Me!!!! I freaked out, and funny enough all the girls were walking passed me to go breakfast and saw the whole thing! Needless to say, that was the end of my swim! I might be used to the idea if snakes when I'm at my lake house but really don't EVER see them. Gross!!!!!!

The badlands were amazing, if you dont know about them, google it! Theyre gorgeous! mt rushmore was cool, but we all expected it to be a LOT bigger. Were thinking if it had been at night it would have looked slightly more impressive. Nonetheless, it was quite extraordinary to see a national monument of that merit.

The KOA we stayed at in mt rushmore was amazing!!! It had a jumping pillow, pool, laundry, brand new showers, a pizza place, horse r ides, pancake breakfast, a pub, arts and crafts and a water slide. But NO cell service....but we had wifi, which is always a bonus!! We tyedyed shirts and ended up dunking our hair in the dye!!! Don't worry mom, were thinking it's going to wash out!!!! :-)

We made some pretty great stops on our route from rushmore to the badlands. Including bear country, and old macdonalds farm. Linds got to see the pig race but molls and I just barely missed it!!

Yesterday we stopped at the corn palace, MAN, that place....I don't really have words. It's cool, but pretty hyped up!!!!

So, were in our last weekend, as I said headed to Chicago for the night. Were staying in a hotel, not rv park, and were all really excited for a goooood shower. And to shave our legs!!

We've been collecting some really cool souvenirs from all the super awesome places we've gone. We've been collecting coozies from all kind of random places. It's almost like a game now.

We miss everyone like nuts, but this is seriously the trip of a lifetime, and we never want it to end.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Love from the rv

That was mollie btw.
Driving through bad lands right now. It's so crazy!! Listening to This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land. What a classic! It's our last weekend on the road. I'm really sad about it for the first time. I find myself wondering what I'm going to do when it's over. Although we have only been gone three weeks it feels like this is all i've ever done. The real world seems so far away. When it's really over I'll go back to reality a changed person. with a more open mind and heart. America is so beautiful and mind blowing. We are all so lucky to call it home.

We are winging it tonight. Stoping at the first place we think is cool. Then to Chicago for our last night!! Stay stylin east cost. See ya soon!!!

Hey there!
You've got another 1st time blogger on your hands. I figured I'd give in and let the fam, friends and bf get a lil taste of my rv trip this far.
I am having such an amazing time!!! Nashville was def music city, how could we not make our mark with some sweet karaoke singing?!?
New Orleans was exciting and different, def the hottest place we've been so far. Driving thru Texas makes me appreciate an airplane for all those visits to see Aunt Marsha in Katy! And, Cadillac Ranch was really random... I've realized vandalizing is my calling, JOKE!
Ok a more serious note, I didn't prepare myself for the beauty of the painted desert or the magnitude of the Grand Canyon. Both were worth the RV trip in themselves.
Now let's talk Vegas! It was sad to see Jess and Nan leave cuz I still miss them, but Hef, Molls and I still rocked it out!
The drive out of Vegas on the 1 lane road thru the desert can get boring. I suggest passing the slow trucks, it gets addicting or putting on a show for the local gas station by driving off with their pump.

Right now I am laying on the table bed after our evening in Yosemite, which I will let Smallz explain since it's her fav! We will leave soon for the Reno airport to pick up Sarah aka G Funk, when I'm sure about 12 more bathing suits, an iPod adapter and some sweet yoga poses will be added to the mix! Can't wait!
Linz

Off to RENO to pick up Sarah!

Yosemite is pretty awesome! We r headed now 2 hike 2c some sequoias & waterfalls! Hopefully we will make it back 2 camp in time 4 the Tuolumne campfire :) ~hef
wow okay so just left a gas station in death valley and We literally pulled the hose & pump off and drove down the street with it hanging out of the rv!

We are still in Vegas...wait, gotta turn of this Akon off...ok much better. Heather and her damn rap music. Anyway, we are still in Vegas. I wrote a long blog yesterday but the internet messed up and i lost it. It just said that Nan and Jess were leaving us. They took off last night around 9pm. Before they left we had a nice time at Hard Rock pool/bar and did a little gambeling. We miss them dearly already! Today in Vegas was great. Went to the pool again, did some site seeing, took REAL showers and we are now getting ready for dinner and more craziness. We paid $25 around 11am for a HUGE buffet you can eat all day. They seriously have every kind of food and its really good. Hef and Linz are saying right now that I should not be telling everyone this, that I should make it sound like we are eating somewhere fancy. But come on ppl, we are in VEGAS! All extra money goes to the slots.....which i won $33 at last night. Haha, now they are mad at me for telling everyone that. ooooo the life of three girls stuck together for 21 days. We are actually getting along great. Everyone said we would be at each others throats with in days.....but those same ppl didnt even think we would make this trip happen. The key is to laugh at each other. Make fun of the bitchyness that comes out in us all. Say whats on your mind and listen. I realized sometime in New Orleans that this trip is not only about seeing America, but about spending serious quality time with my best friends.

Made it to Sin City! Now what... Hard Rock pool party???

Officially Lake Mead (Hover Dam) is the greatest lake i've ever seen! ~ hef

The grand canyon was the most amazing thing i've ever seen (especially at sunset) ~ hef
ROCK VEGAS OR BUST!
Going to bed early tonight. We made dinner over the campfire and talked about our fav parts of the trip thus far.

Vegas tomorrow!!!!! Gotta get some sleep for that. Nan and jess leave us tomorrow. I'm very sad to see them go, but also excited for Sarah to get here!!!! Night blog world.

I am starring into the grand canyon. If this does not make u believe in God I don't know what will. It is so beautiful I would think it was fake... Aside the fact that my heart races every time I step to the edge. It's more amazing than iI ever dreamed. - mollie

Just left bedrock (coolest campground ever) next stop = the grand canyon! ~ hef

(the pic above is of our first campfire & linzi's chair... she bought it at walmart and didn't realize it was a child's chair lol... good thing she is the size of a child!)

We just drove through the painted desert and petrified forest. The painted desert was so pretty. All different colors of stone and small plateaus.

The petrified forest was the real mind blower for me. When u hear the name u think its an actual forest with standing trees. But in reality it's the desert with chunks of tree that have turned to stone. Over 225 million years ago the trees got buried and because of the minerals in the sand the logs crystallized. At first glance they look like normal logs, but when u touch it it's rock!!!!! Crazy.
The rv is so awesome! Hef is driving and we have all the windows down. The views are indescribable.

Also, every few miles there are these ginormous dinosaurs. We have no idea why but we love them!

Well hello followers. I am a virgin blogger and definitely a virgin RV-er. We have taken the U.S by storm! Tennessee was more than any of us were prepared for, especially since it was our first night. New Orleans was a bit of a cultural experience that we weren't really expecting either. We all shared the local cuisine of craw dads, gumbo, and fried gator. We loved the huge three dollar beers and hurricanes that you could walk down the street with, but got a large dose of stripper phobia by the end of the night. The dueling pianos completed the night. The two ladies we saw just killed it and added another count to our country roads tally. Driving has been ALOT easier than i had thought it would be. Everyone is taking care of their share and rocking out to some serious backstreet boys and boys to men....don't judge us. But the non sleeping portion has definitely turned us a bit delirious by the time we finally got to Amarillo. The Cadillac ranch was cool but quite random since we still cant figure out the reason as to why it exists. But it is awesome to see all the randomness of the United States, as you can see with our Jurassic encounter. The weather the whole way was a bit intense as well, since it would be pouring rain on the RV but there would be beautiful sunshine 3 miles down the road. We saw the most beautiful rainbow, which has to mean good karma for the rest of the trip. We are retiring to Mollies astronomy tips, apparently shes already spotted the milky way...which im pretty sure is just a cloud. goodnight from Arizona...tomorrow the painted desert and the petrified forest
-Nan "aka Ninny according to the random "Alabamian" at one of the truck stops we were at

Goodnight from Arizona.
This is for real.

We just finished spray painting cadillacs on the ranch! stay tuned for pics & videos!

P.s. We tried to go to a gator farm today.. But it had closed 45 min before we got there =(
just made it past Dallas. Dallas looks fun! But i did not like driving this rv on their crazzy badly paved highways & ramps. Next stop Amarillo eta 5:20a! ~hef

Thursday, June 25, 2009

We just drove through Dallas. It's night and the city looked beautiful! There is this pull to stop at every attraction. See every site there is to see. At first it makes me sad because we don't have time to literally see it all. But after thinking more it makes me look forward to the future. After one slight glimps of Dallas I know I'll come back one day.

snake farm, sounds kinda nasty, snake farm, cuz it is, snake farm, its a reptile hotel, snake farm, ugeheeww
On the way to bourbon street. The weather is beautiful here and we r goin to eat some crawfish!! Nan says she is going to suck the head like they tell ya to on tv! Everyone here has been so nice. We are sooooo excited to expirence new Orleans night life. We do have mace.
Headed to Bourbon Street tonight... Hopefully its not to sketch! ~ hef
SOO MANY GUIT-TARS!

Cowboy Troy!
What a success Nashville was. This town may never forget us. We saw Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Walk of Fame. Nan sang a duet with Cowboy Troy or Tony(we're all still debating on the name!) in front of the whole bar. We all sang our own individual karaoke song. We went to: The Stage, The "Legendary" Legends, Rippys, Cadillac Ranch, WannaB's, and Tootsies ... As for the plan to see how many bars we can get to sing Country Roads .... well apparently not many people in Nashville know that song, or at least not the whole thing! But we did manage to get some people to at least do the chorus for us! By the end of the night, we all had had an amazing time and needed to get back to the RV. Finally get in the cab and back to the campsite, and Lindsay won't get out of the cab. Apparently she was having entirely too much fun serenading the cab driver!! After about 10 minutes of Mollie following them around the parking lot, she finally manages to get her out and bring her back to the RV ... in the mean time, we have managed to break into our RV by throwing Nan through the window because Mollie had the keys ... pretty sure the screen feel off ... but that's neither here nor there!! Nan and Lindsay jumped into the pool ... at 1:30 in the morning ... pretty sure a table got broken in the process! But all in all ... i think we successfully conquered Nashville!

P.S. Most requested song in Nashville - Snake Farm .... Snake farm, sounds kinda nasty. Snake farm, Cause it is!
-Weird Guy at one of the bars!

We are all so lucky and blessed. Life is good !
We r sitting in this awesome bar at the honkey tonk watching this sexy dude named Charlie play the guitar.
New thing....see how many bars we can get to play country roads....
So we r in. First time getting ready with all the girls. Cake. We didn't run into eachother at all. No one had a hard time doin their make up without a mirror or finding something to wear in this 98 degree weather.

It's beautiful out. I'm currently wind drying my hair w Linz. Drinking a bud light. Waiting for our cab to take us to "honkey tonk". Where apparently there is non stop live country music for blocks.

Fiiinally got hooked up to the koa in nashville... Been here quite a few hours! Apparently they like to double book here. . .

Horay we got mobile blogging!! Everyone has it! We can also upload pics soon!

You're The Only Ten I See ;)

I must resort to writing my posts on Word since there is little to no internet connection on the road. The first stop, Nashville, is approaching! We are rocking out to Sheryl Crow, Everyday is a Winding Road. Life couldn’t be better….well we all could have gotten more than three hours of sleep, the windows and doors could actually not rattle, and there could be a few more cubby holes to store all of our things. Ok, can you tell I am tired??? On a more positive note, everything is going amazing. We all adapted to driving the Winnebago within minutes. Nan has been the star of the night, putting in about 6 hours of the trip. She always was a night owl. Heather and I each only put in an hour, but in my defense I did drive it out of Arlington, VA. Im sure we will be making up our lost driving time soon.
Tennessee country side is beautiful. Flat roads and plenty of blue skies and green trees. Its beautiful and sunny, the high is 96 today! Good thing too because we just hit Nashville rush hour. It’s somewhat refreshing that DC is not the only clustermess at 7am.
Well Tracey Chapman, Fast Car just came on the radio and I believe this calls for the entire RV to sing. Hopefully this will get posted before we start our kick ass site seeing in Nashville.

Here and Now

The time is here! Instead of finishing my packing I will continue to be true to myself and procrastinate. Andrew Steward is coming to pick me up to have lunch and go to the bank. Gonna miss that kid! I left my car in Braxton county so it will be there when i spend the week of the 13 at home with my wonderful rents!

I know everyone is very excited! Jess, Heather, and Sarah are all at work today. Getting last min things done before we hit the road. There are no longer 45 pages of emails to be sent out everyday. Or the last min frantic "what about this?" "do we need this?" moments. we are set. everything is planned, and most are completely packed...linzi didn't even start packing until this morning!

I must get everything into my cool LL Bean bag. Wish us luck and keep us in your prayers. This is going to be three weeks we never forget.

First stop: NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

17 more days...

And the time is near. The past months have been very stressful and exciting putting this amazing trip together. There have been tears shed and laughter shared. At points we thought this trip was never ever going to fall into place. But now its here; we are %100, absolutely, positively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, hitting the road on June 22nd. (when my friend linzi will be driving our beautiful RV out of Arlington, VA).
My name is Mollie and for the next four weeks or so I, along with 5 of my best friends, will be blogging on Winnebago Summer. Telling you all about our three week adventure across America! Our destinations are many and the RV tiny, but were cramming anything and everything into these three weeks. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime and I am so excited to share it with you!
